Spring Awakenings

"When one flower blooms, spring awakens everywhere." - John O'Donohue.

Spring comes slowly in the north, the first signs of spring may not be an early flower, but instead a green blade of grass and folks raking off the winter gravel from their lawns often while the residents on the shadowed side of the road are still shoveling snow off.

This year we didn't get much snow - which made it an odd winter and an early spring. People are out on their bikes earlier, some in shorts and others in toques depending on their fortitude. But when the ground warms we see tree and gardens alike awaken with colour and life and it's time to get outside and breath.

"Spring won't let me stay in this house any longer! I must get out and breathe the air deeply again." - Gustav Mahler
